| This
is one of three birds that I entered in the World Ace Challenge
down in Texas. This race turned out to be a “Survival”
competition starting with the very first race which was
a total smash! I lost one bird on that race. My other two
came next day. Lots of well known Pigeon Flyers lost all
or half of their birds on the very first 150 mile race.
There was a 150, 200, 250, 300, 350 & a 400 mile race
in the whole series. That’s a total of over 1650 miles
that these young birds flew, and this is not including the
19 training tosses they flew before the 1st race. That is
a tough series and all the birds that made it through were
all ACEs in my opinion.
On the 6th race a 400 mile. I was expecting 2170 to be in
the top 10%. I have a pair that I call the “Federation
Pair” that produces fantastic middle distance speed
birds. I have had 6 different birds score in the 300 &
400 mile races from this pair. Well ACE Zapper has this
bloodline on both his sire’s side and his dam’s
side, so I expected him to do well on the 400. And that’s
what he did. He was equal 1st with 4 other birds, he was
3rd to trap. He fought his way to 49th place beating out
1157 of the best birds from all over the world. He is ACE
Zapper! |
