I normally set my birds up before
a race, especially an important local futurity like the
GNEO. I usually train and give a certain diet to get the
birds into condition before the race. Well in 2005 &
2006 I hosted my own one loft race called the Ohio Breeders
Classic and I only raced 2 young bird races all year.
My focus was on the birds in my race and not on my own
birds. I crated my birds up and brought them to the GNEO
shipping night and off they went. Even though I took 10th
in 2004, I wasn't expecting anything in 2005 because i
didn't train or feed like I normally do before races.
The race was on a Friday so I was at work and had no clue
that I had a good bird clocked until I got home and looked
at the clock. Well I got 5th place against 926 birds.
Was I surprised? Yes and No. Yes,
because this was Interceptor's very first time he was
released with birds from another loft and I didn't do
anything special to help my birds get into condition.
No, because these birds handle like a dream and are always
there on race day. This bloodline is being spread throughout
my entire loft. Not just because of Interceptor's 5th
place win.... These birds are boomerangs! I don't lose
them! I have never seen a pair pump out so many great
young birds that can fly every race in the top 5-10% and
are all still here at the end of the season! I'll race
these birds against any birds out there and am confident
that they will handle and race as good as the top birds
worldwide!
Interceptor did it on his own natural
ability and I had nothing to do with his 5th place win
against 926 birds, it was all him! One race is all it
took for me to know, to retire him to the breeders loft!
A full brother of Interceptor is
the sire of Ace Zapper who came in 49th overall against
1206 birds in the 2006 World Ace Challenge. Ace Zapper
raced 6 races, 1650 miles as a youngbird and came in equal
1st, 3rd trapped on the last 400 mile race.
A full sister of Intercepter was
my other entry in the World Ace Challenge. She came in
190th overall / 1206 birds. She made it through the very
difficult 6 races series, a total of 1650 miles were flown,
most birds didn't make it through the whole series.
